Welcome
Welcome to Brendyn Appleby Strength and Conditioning (BASC for short).
For those that know me, they know I don’t like being idle. With my PhD studies recently completed and a change in work role, I felt the time was right to delve into a new area, a new challenge. I’ve been thinking about this stage for a while and have successfully procrastinated on the premise that more time will make the “ launch” perfect. Which is wrong. It won’t be perfect, it will simply be late. So here it is, not perfect, but launched (I’m also trying my hand at this web thing, so bear with me if you see any mistakes. Always trying to learn!).
I have been fortunate to enjoy over 20 years in elite sport. I have helped junior and senior athletes in a variety of sports (including water polo, track and field and rowing), to be the best they can be. Being involved in sport as an S&C coach has given me a lot of wonderful experiences. But it has also allowed me to develop skills that help people improve physicality – their own physicality or that of others. I am really excited (and nervous) to be developing this site to help both coaches and athletes.
For coaches, I’m thrilled to be bringing a range of educational opportunities (workshops and programs) designed to improve technical skills and coaching effectiveness. I believe these will appeal to coaches at all levels. Of particular significance is the real-world implementation of content.
Enhanced physicality has a clear role for elite athletes, and it is becoming increasingly apparent that improving physical condition has a raft of applications for everyone, not just those involved in sport. My mission for this site is to transfer the skills and experiences I have gained to other coaches, and athletes (competitive or not) and also bring together a network of coaches willing to share and help other coaches develop. The regular articles will be a source of information from my current experiences and also from contributing colleagues.
I hope you enjoy the content. I invite you to make contact to raise an area of interest. Let’s see how this goes.
Welcome to BASC.
